PANEL & SPEAKER BACKGROUND:
PANELIST Brian heads up the Infrastructure Engineering function for the Office of the CIO at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. He oversees a full range of infrastructure services spanning messaging, directory services, desktop engineering, and computing capacity (including server and storage virtualization technologies and service offerings). Prior to JPL, Brian spent nine years at The Walt Disney Company overseeing a wide range of IT services across various infrastructure and applications development environments; three years at Nestle USA managing an array of infrastructure services from desktop to data center; and 10 years heading up all aspects of IT for Pacesetter Systems (now a division of St. Jude Medical), a cardiac device manufacturer. PANELIST Her IT management roles which includes her current role as Director of Server Operations, Global Data Services, at Universal Music Group for the past 8 years, has focused on planning, implementation, policies and procedures, server infrastructure management, disaster recovery and business continuity. She has been involved with cost-effective strategic business values utilizing technologies such as VMWare, transition from tape to Virtual Tape Libraries, IAP Archiving solutions, and Data Center Management. She has made significant contributions in the areas of strategy assessments, security management, and added business value to UMG through various initiatives providing leadership and value directly and through leverage of distributed infrastructure resources. Veronica graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from CSLA and an M.B.A., with concentration in Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Business. In addition she holds several IT certifications and continues to expand her knowledge of the field by being active in organizations such as ISACA, and DRII.
MODERATOR Jerry Schuman began his 25-year career as a senior information consultant to Hughes Aircraft. In 1993 he founded Flashpoint Systems - a leader in Internet and intranet application development-and served as chief technology officer. At VERSIFI as chief technology officer, Schuman directed product research and development of VERSIFI's award winning content management system. Gartner Group called VERSIFI, 'the most visionary CMS product in the world'. VERSIFI was sold in late 2000 for 48M.
John Morabito John Morabito has been with Sybase for over 13 years including 8 years as a Product Support Engineer in the Boulder, Colorado office and 5 years as a Systems Consultant in Orange County. His experience as a systems consultant includes supporting high profile IQ customers including American Express, McKesson, Paramount Studios & Shopzilla.
Erik Salazar Erik Salazar is Vice President of Sales for Coresite's Southern California region and is based out of Los Angeles, California. Mr. Salazar has been with Coresite since 2004. Mr. Salazar brings several years of experience collaborating with large enterprise and technology firms, with regards to IT infrastructure and Capacity planning, in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Prior to his role in Sales, Mr. Salazar was a Financial Analyst reporting to Principals and Managing Directors of The Carlyle Group's U.S. Real Estate division. Prior thereto he worked as a Network and Systems Administrator for the University of Southern California's School of Engineering. Mr. Salazar received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Global Management from the University of Southern California.
